Even you will find the kids prefer the fast food for their choice of the toys but not for taste. Celebrity endorsed products are not far behind, all of these are contributes for increasing their demographic considerably.
Health Risk
Major contributing factors for the emerging diabetes in an early age is unhealthy diet full of junk and fast food. Added sugars have no nutritional value but are high in calories and add up to obesity which is a contributing factor for getting heart disease. Children who eat fast food at least three times a week are at increased risk of asthma and rhinitis. They are more likely to develop depression in later stages of their life compared to non-eaters. Eating junk food for just five days regularly can deteriorate your memory, more prone to poor oral health and dental issues. Processed foods can send mixed signals to the brain which makes it difficult to process what you have eaten and how hungry you are and end up overeating. High amount of bad fats and sodium from salt causes hypertension. Eating a lot of junk food has a direct effect on the kidney functioning. It is best to start training children about foods at a very young age itself since they are most influenced by their families during the early years. Reduce how much time your child spends watching television commercials so they are not exposed to fast food advertising. Don’t keep Junk food at home this will limit the amount of junk food your child can eat. Take them to the grocery shopping, allow them to select fruit and vegetables of their choice.
Keep healthy snacks available by placing them on low shelves in the fridge or in the cabinets so your children can reach them when hungry. Keep a bowl of fruit out so children can help themselves, since they are more likely to eat foods that are visible.
An occasional fast food meal won’t harm your child’s health and can be a fun. We should carefully read food labels to check nutrients and ingredients. Set example to them by not taking junk foods yourself. Help them find alternative choices for the cravings.
